Dalhousie Mathematics and Statistics Graduate Students’ Society

The Mathematics and Statistics Graduate Students’ Society (MSGSS) is the DSU society for all MSc and PhD students in mathematics and statistics at Dalhousie University. We run the weekly graduate seminar, organize social events throughout the year, and advocate for graduate students in the department.

Events

We organize the following throughout the academic year:

• Grad seminar: a weekly seminar where graduate students share their research in an informal, friendly setting. Everyone is welcome to come listen, and new speakers are always encouraged.
• Writing days: co-working sessions on campus or at a nearby café, offering dedicated time to make progress on theses, papers, and coursework alongside peers.
• Board game nights: relaxed social evenings that bring together students from across the department.
• Career day: an event with invited Dalhousie alumni and former postdocs now working in academia and industry, who share their career paths after graduate school.
