The Snort Product - Finding the Cop Number

Melanie Gauthier · Monday, November 3, 2025

In my honours thesis, I introduced the Snort product of two graphs, a new type of graph product inspired by the combinatorial game Snort, a two-player graph colouring game. In this talk, we give some background for the construction of the graph product, then we study the game of Cops and Robbers on Snort products, a pursuit-evasion game played on graphs where a set of cops tries to capture a robber. Our main focus is to determine the cop number of Snort products, the minimum number of cops needed to guarantee capture. We will explore examples involving paths and cycles, present strategies for the cops, and discuss bounds for more complicated cases. This is joint work with Dr. Danielle Cox and Dr. Svenja Huntemann from Mount Saint Vincent University.
